Key Note:  'The Character of a Researcher'

My view of what being an academic is (and does) has changed substantially over time. Getting there isn’t just about being clever, and many of us worry we’re not even that. I will give an overview of my path from PhD student to Professor, the ups and downs along the way, and I will try to explain what has driven me at various points in my career. I suspect the journey is never easy for anyone, but it can be incredibly rewarding.
